Following the disappointing loan spell that Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Gonçalo Guedes had at Benfica this year, it’s time to see the clubs engaging in negotiations for a new deal.

According to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã, the 26-year-old is ‘putting pressure to stay’ with the Eagles for longer.

Guedes only made 15 appearances for Benfica during the loan, and missed many games because of two knee surgeries in that period.

The winger isn’t expected to have a place at Wolves, since he’s not part of Julen Lopetegui’s plans, and that’s why it’s believed he’ll have some weight on the decision of where to play next.

Since Guedes will soon become a father for the first time, he’d also like to stay in Lisbon closer to his family.

Correio da Manhã claims that the clubs have already started talks. Benfica’s intention is to sign him on a new loan, while Wolves’s ‘main objective’ is to ‘sell him’ on a permanent deal.

It’s said there are other approaches from Spanish clubs, so the Molineux side are set to sit and analyse the best offers on the table.
