Returning from his loan at Napoli from Chelsea, Tiemoué Bakayoko isn’t expected to stay at Stamford Bridge for very long this summer.
Both the player and Marina Granovskaia will be wanting to find a permanent solution to what has been a rather unhappy marriage between club and midfielder, and Milan could be the ideal location for him to land.
He already knows the Serie A side, having spent a season on loan there, and he’s lucky enough that they want him this summer, although not just at any price.
When he was last in Milan, there was a €35m purchase clause attached to the deal, which was too expensive for them, but this time, the player’s contract situation is in their favour.
Expiring in 2022, Bakayoko’s deal with Chelsea leaves little room to wiggle in the loan department, but Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday explain that ‘at a reasonable price, you can close the deal immediately’.
Furthermore, they believe the Frenchman is ‘pushing’ for a move back to Milan, who are ‘at the top’ of his wishes.
Now, it’s just a case of deciding what ‘reasonable’ means.
