After weeks, maybe months, of Anthony Limbombe being on the verge of a move to Huddersfield Town, last week a major problem was reported on the potential deal.
HLN, who had previously reported Limbombe had an agreement to join Huddersfield, then claimed that personal terms could not be reached between the two parties, leaving the Belgian attacker at Club Brugge.
But he isn’t playing. He isn’t even training with the main squad.
Limbombe, along with a couple of teammates, has been pulled out of the normal preseason training and warm-up matches. Club Brugge want the transfers sorted out, and after bad experiences last summer they don’t want their main squad to be disrupted.
HLN have another article on the situation today and Huddersfield Town don’t even get a mention. Now the player is said to be ‘in the picture at Newcastle’, and Rafael Benitez’s club being the only side named.
Huddersfield may not be the highest paying in the Premier League but it’s still curious that Limbombe hasn’t been able to agree terms, despite already house-hunting in Yorkshire.
It’s now over to Newcastle United to see what they can do, having already been mentioned as a possible contender last week.
