Inter Milan midfielder Cesare Casadei ‘prefers’ a move to Chelsea this summer over Nice and the two clubs are discussing a deal.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say the Italian side have deemed the youngster a ‘bearable sacrifice’ this summer.
They explain that Nice were willing to discuss a move for the midfielder but he ‘prefers’ Chelsea should he leave Inter.
That’s left the Blues and their Italian counterparts ‘talking’ to see if it is possible to find an agreement on the valuation of the player.
Reports have had Inter valuing Casadei at €15m while Chelsea have so far offered less than that, although they are reportedly willing to match it eventually.
There is a ‘broader perspective’ to the deal as the two clubs currently have a good working relationship after the deal to take Romelu Lukaku back to Inter earlier this summer.
However, the relationship between the two ‘must be kept warm’ if they are to eventually reach an agreement.
In the meantime, Sassuolo are also interested in Casadei and willing to offer Inter a repurchase clause through a gentlemen’s agreement.
That is something Chelsea are unlikely to offer, but for now, the player’s desire to move to Stamford Bridge should put them at the front of the queue.
