On August 8th we covered claims from Italy which stated Pervis Estupinan is ‘destined’ to sign for West Ham and had chosen the Hammers over a possible move to Napoli.

The Premier League club were said to have initiated contact over the signing, although it wasn’t clear if that contact was with the player’s entourage or his club, Villarreal.

Reports in Italy later explained that West Ham would be prepared to offer more money to Villarreal to seal the deal ahead of Napoli, and David Moyes’ side were put in clear first place for the deal.

According to Corriere del Mezzogiorno, via Area Napoli, things have now changed a lot. They state the player ‘prefers’ a move to Napoli over West Ham, and is ‘waiting’ for the Serie A club to make a move for him.

Napoli would want to take left-back on a loan deal with a right to make the transfer permanent next summer, although with Villarreal likely to prefer a full transfer that could favour West Ham.
