Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel has all but confirmed that striker Niclas Füllkrug is set to join West Ham United, wishing him good luck in the Premier League.
The Dortmund number one has been speaking to Sky Sports Germany about his teammate as he looks set to move to the London Stadium in the coming days.
West Ham have accelerated their efforts for the German striker over the course of this week, eventually reaching an agreement with Borussia Dortmund on Friday evening for a deal that could cost €30m in total.
The Champions League finalists have reluctantly agreed to selling the striker, deciding to accept the money for the 31-year-old now while it is on offer despite having planned to keep him this season.
A deal is now progressing, with Dortmund director of football Sebastien Kehl admitting today that there will be developments today or tomorrow and that they had been somewhat caught out by West Ham pushing this week.
Now Kobel has been questioned about his teammate by Sky and almost confirmed the move is taking place, wishing the striker well and admitting he’s getting a dream transfer.
“He was a great player (here),” he said.
“I think he had some great moments here in Dortmund, especially against Atletico, the header he scored there, just to name one. And he’s sure he can help every team he’s on.
“Of course, but I’m also extremely happy for him. He’s also had a huge chance to fulfil a dream of his, to play in the Premier League.
“I think he still has to do the medical check, but as I said, if everything works out and he’s officially there, I wish him all the best. And I hope he makes the right decision.”
