Jan Oblak to Chelsea rumours have been travelling between between the English and Spanish sport media over the past week or so.

Not a great deal has been concrete and the theme of the claims is that Chelsea, and Manchester United for that matter, would very much like the Atletico Madrid player, but that the Rojiblancos have no intention of letting the goalkeeper leave.

It’s not even certain if he’d be tempted by a move to the Premier League, although there have been previous claims Oblak is a little frustrated at not fighting successfully for the biggest titles with Atletico.

Sure enough, Monday’s Spanish sport newspapers see a few more lines about the interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, although, once again, there’s nothing really in it.

AS have interviewed Atletico defender Stefan Savic, and he believes Oblak is happy where he currently is.

Specifically asked about Chelsea ‘wanting to take him for €100m’, Savic said of his teammate: “We have not spoken about anything, these are issues of the press. It is normal, the best players are wanted by the best teams. Who doesn’t love Oblak? Everyone, but he is our goalkeeper and we are very happy that he is and I think he will continue with us in the future.”

Savic and Oblak are presented as being close, so he’d probably know if something was happening with Chelsea behind the scenes. That he’s dismissed it as media talk throws some cold water on the claims.
