Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino has been pictured in the airport heading to London to complete his move to Arsenal.
El Diario Vasco provide the latest update on the midfielder, offering up a slideshow of images of the Spanish star as he heads out to complete his move to the Gunners.
The newspaper reports that Merino has flown to London to become a new Arsenal player and travelled with his family to London this afternoon.
That comes after he visited Real Sociedad this morning to say his goodbyes to teammates and staff and collect his belongings.
He was spotted speaking to Sociedad chief Roberto Olabe ahead of his exit, which was agreed with Arsenal yesterday.
The Gunners finally struck a deal with Real Sociedad after weeks of negotiations for the Spanish midfielder, who was key to his country’s success at Euro 2024 this summer.
They’re set to pay an initial €32.5m deal plus €5m in variables for Merino, who made it clear earlier this summer that he wanted the move to the Emirates.
That’s now set to happen as he’s flying out from Spain to London before presumably undergoing a medical and completing the relevant paperwork.
