As João Gomes continues to hope for his move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, he’s now shown a big sign of how much he wants it.
This week, the Brazilian media reported that with Lyon trying to hijack that deal, their owner John Textor would visit Flamengo’s training ground to speak to the player.
The French club had already offered €1m more than Wolves, and that’s why they only needed the green light from the midfielder to get the signing done.
However, according to journalist Venê Casagrande, João Gomes turned the Ligue 1 club down again.
That had already been done with another director from the club, and now that was said directly to the new owner.
The report claims the midfielder made it clear he has nothing against the French side.
The problem is that when Wolves’ bid was accepted by Flamengo, he gave the Premier League side the yes for a deal, and will stick to his word, despite the Brazilian side now putting that on hold to negotiate with Lyon.
Casagrande says Flamengo expect to solve the issue before the weekend. The club play the Super Cup on Saturday, but with Gomes being in this complicated situation, he’s not even expected to be part of the squad.
