Barcelona defender Emerson Royal missed training this morning as he closes in on a move to Tottenham.
That’s according to AS, who say that the defender is ‘on the verge’ of completing his move to Tottenham.
They say he missed the morning training session at Ciutat Esportiva with permission from Barcelona as he finalises his contract with Spurs.
The deal to take him to London could be closed in the next few hours as it has been deemed ‘very satisfactory’ for all parties involved.
Barcelona are set to receive around €30m between a fixed price and variables, which suits them perfectly, while Tottenham are getting a right-back that they need. Emerson, meanwhile, is getting a move where he’ll be guaranteed playing time to further his development.
In any case, the Catalan giants are set to get €30m, but not all of that will go into the club’s coffers, with 20% due to Emerson’s former club, Betis. That will see them pocket €5-6m depending on the fixed amount in the deal.
Barcelona will be making a profit regardless of that, with the move set to be finalised at some point today.
That would depend on a medical, which Tuttomercatoweb say was conducted today, and Emerson has now passed.
As far as they’re concerned, the Brazilian can now be considered a new signing for Tottenham, with only the announcement missing.
