West Ham United’s Luizão has ended up on Antalyaspor’s radar, according to PL Brasil.
The centre-back is a product of São Paulo’s youth system and made his way into their first team in May 2022, before being sold to the Hammers in January 2023.
Luizão hasn’t made an appearance for West Ham’s first team, and has settled for minutes with their U21 side so far.
Last month, Antalyaspor appointed Alex de Souza as their new coach, and he managed the defender at São Paulo’s U20 side in the past.
It’s claimed Alex has made a ‘special request’ to Antalyaspor to sign the 22-year-old this summer, and his entourage would welcome this move.
Luizão’s contract expires in 2026 and his wish is to enjoy regular minutes either in London or at another club. David Moyes was the ‘main obstacle’ for him to have a chance in West Ham’s first team.
Moyes has been replaced by Julen Lopetegui and the Brazilian understands he could have opportunities to play under the new manager. If the Spaniard were to leave him out of his plans, then Antalyaspor could be an attractive option for Luizão.
PL Brasil points out West Ham had blocked 18 loan proposals for Luizão in recent months, including from Palmeiras, Cruzeiro, Bahia and Atlético-MG.
