Earlier this weekend, we covered claims from Spain that West Ham United were putting the pressure to sign Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City
The midfielder has made it clear he wants to leave his club to get minutes ahead of the Euros, and the Hammers have long been interested in a deal.
Florian Plettenberg brings the latest on the situation to X, formerly Twitter, by posting that the player is ‘very open’ to joining West Ham ‘immediately’.
In fact, all the parties are working to get a ‘verbal agreement’ on personal terms as quickly as possible, while the Hammers are themselves working with Manchester City to see if they can reach a handshake on a loan deal.
Those talks are ‘ongoing’, meaning that with the player’s approval of a move and personal terms seemingly on their way, it could be that this deal moves quickly in the next few days, allowing Phillips to bounce back from what has been a terrible time in the north of England after moving to the treble winners from Leeds United.
The 28-year-old’s situation has often been discussed publicly by his manager, and the talks surrounding a January exit have come as a surprise to no one.
🚨Been told: Kalvin #Phillips, very open to join West Ham immediately! All parties are working on a verbal agreement now.
