Everton came close to signing Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma in January before he snubbed them to join Tottenham Hotspur on loan in the same window. The Toffees are back in the picture for the 26-year-old this summer.
On Wednesday, Gazzetta dello Sport reported the winger has a ‘rich offer’ from Sean Dyche’s side, when covering AC Milan’s interest in him.
AS state the Serie A side had made progress to secure Danjuma’s services before Everton started to ‘meddle’ in this operation.
Although the Netherlands international was close to joining the Rossoneri, it’s claimed he’s now ‘one step away’ from the Merseyside club. He’s been left out of Quique Setién’s plans and has a ‘foot and a half’ outside of the Spanish side.
The Yellow Submarine were looking to find a new club for him in the past few weeks. The report says that if Milan seemed to be his next club yesterday, it’s the Premier League side that will ‘finally be his destiny’.
AS say Villarreal want a €4m loan fee plus the Dutchman’s full salary to be covered by the club that’s going to sign him in this window. It’s said Everton will take care of it, if there’s no new twist in this saga.
Milan, for their part, will say ‘goodbye’ to Danjuma and now work on signing his Villarreal teammate, Samuel Chukwueze.
