Niko Sigur is now ‘one step away’ from joining Celtic from Hajduk Split, with the Scottish giants winning the race for his signature.

That’s according to journalist Ižak Ante Sučić, who reports that the deal for him is now being finalised by Celtic.

He reports that the Bhoys are ‘one step away’ from completing the deal for Sigur. He was also on Wolves radar, but Celtic have won the race for his signature.

The deal had been on hold for a few days following Wilfried Nancy’s sacking but is now being pushed over the line.

24 Sata provide more information on the matter. They state the 22-year-old could be on his way to Celtic after they picked up their interest once again. It had been put on hold before Nancy’s departure.

His agents, the SA33 agency, have very good connections with Celtic’s leadership. In fact, they’ve done €50m worth of transfers in the past for the likes of Liel Abada, Matt O’Riley and Callum McGregor.

The right-back now appears destined to follow in their footsteps. In fact, the perfect reference would be Josip Juranović. Celtic see Sigur as a direct replacement for him. They see a new Juranović in the defender.

Ižak Ante Sučić’s information is more recent, and he appears pretty certain Niko Sigur is joining Martin O’Neill’s Celtic.
