Sporting Club de Portugal striker Youssef Chermiti has ‘one foot’ at Everton as they work hard to match the Portuguese club’s demands and get a deal over the line.
That’s according to O Jogo, who cover the striker today after Everton made their move for him yesterday.
The newspaper reports Chermiti is ‘one step away’ from joining the Toffees, who have submitted a proposal worth €15m plus €5m in goals. The Alvalade club also intends to keep 20% of a future sale.
They had initially set their asking price at €20m for the youngster but Everton don’t intend to pay that outright and instead reach that figure via various bonuses included.
These seem to be based on Chermiti’s potential performances, with O Jogo stating that ‘the player will have to achieve’ them, hinting they’re likely based on goals and perhaps even assists.
Everton’s move has been advocated for by Sean Dyche, who ‘appreciates the qualities’ of the youngster and asked the club to make an effort to sign him.
Record, meanwhile, state that Sporting and Everton are ‘close to reaching an agreement’ to complete Chermiti’s transfer to Goodison Park this summer.
According to their information, an intermediary has presented an offer of €15m for 90% of the rights of the striker, with a further €5m promised based on goals.
Chermiti was unaware of an agreement and only told after training yesterday, at which point he was ‘inclined to sit down at the table to discuss it’.
There was a slight impasse after this as various agents tried to move and claim ‘exclusivity’ on the potential deal but talks then calmed down and everyone is now working on a deal to get him to Everton.
