Norwich City’s Emiliano Marcondes is on the ‘verge of leaving’ the Championship side.

The 31-year-old first arrived in England when Brentford signed him on a free transfer in 2018.

He then moved to AFC Bournemouth, again on a free transfer in July 2021. At the end of last season, Andoni Iraola’s released the attacking midfielder, who was without a club until Norwich City signed him in October.

Since moving to Carrow Road, the Dane played 738 minutes, managing one goal and two assists. His only goal came in the Canaries’ 3-1 league win over Queens Park Rangers in November.

Marcondes has a XG of 2.26 and XA of 1.78, created two and missed four big chances in the Championship. He made 0.6 key passes and o.9 tackles per game for Norwich City.

The English club parted ways with Liam Manning and appointed Philippe Clement as his successor in November.

Marcondes agrees to leave Norwich City

The Dane played 337 minutes from eight matches under the former Rangers boss, before losing prominence. To put it in context, he made only one appearance in this year, and it was against Stoke City on January 4th.

Last month, the player said he’s still looking to leave, after Norwich City tried to get rid of him in the winter market.

Expressen now report the latest on his immediate future and state he’s ‘on the verge of leaving’ Clement’s side.

The two parties have agreed to part ways, without involving a transfer fee. In other words, Norwich City will let him leave as a free agent.

The winter window in the UK closed on February 2nd and he can still change clubs outside the transfer window. However, he has to move to a league where the window is still open.

Sweden and Norway have their windows open until March 25th and 31st respectively. He’s attracting interest from unnamed clubs from these two countries. Emiliano Marcondes is interested in a move, as long as he finds a club that suits him.

Exit beneficial for Norwich City and player

Norwich City

Marcondes has a contract until the end of this season and Transfermarkt now value him at €800,000.

Clement is unlikely to change his stance on the former Bees man. Therefore, an exit, even if it’s on a free transfer, suits both him and Norwich City.

He can look for a new club to play again while the Championship side can save on his salary for the next three months.

It’ll be interesting to see where he will end up next.
