Three days ago, Calciomercato reported Newcastle United are working with Malick Thiaw’s representatives to sign him.

The centre-back could leave AC Milan this summer and Newcastle are ‘seriously trying’ to sign him.

That’s according to MilanLive.it, who state Milan could receive an important offer from the Premier League, and his agent is working to take his client to England.

Newcastle are looking to approach the Serie A side, in order to provide another quality defender for Eddie Howe.

The Rossoneri would like to keep the Germany international, while they also don’t want to retain unhappy players. The report says there could be movement if there’s an offer of over €40m.

Over at Gazzetta dello Sport, they also provide a short update on the Magpies’ pursuit of the 22-year-old.

Paulo Fonseca’s side have made advances to sign Red Bull Salzburg’s Strahinja Pavlović. It’s claimed his arrival can overshadow the former Schalke man’s potential transfer to Newcastle, who are ‘ready for the final assault’ to sign the German.

Milan are requesting €40m for Thiaw, and Gazzetta say the ‘feeling is that it will be done’, meaning the player will be ‘on his way to Newcastle’.
