Two days ago, Sport Mediaset reported Manchester United are ready to tempt Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia with an offer worth €9m per year.
Italian journalist Ciro Venerato mentions Manchester United when providing the latest on the 23-year-old’s contract situation.
He was a guest on Televomero’s Terzo Tempo Calcio Napoli and his comments are relayed by Tutto Napoli.
The Georgia international’s deal lasts until 2027 and he doesn’t seem to be close to signing an extension. The outlet claims there’s a ‘cold war’ ongoing between his entourage and the Serie A side.
Paris Saint-Germain were keen on signing him and offered a lucrative deal to secure the forward’s services, but the deal didn’t take shape because of Napoli.
Kvaratskhelia currently earns €1.8m per year and is demanding more than what Antonio Conte’s side are willing to offer. Venerato claims the attacker’s agent has offered him to Manchester United and other clubs.
“Napoli won’t go over €6m per year compared to the €1.8m he gets now,” he said.
“The player, who was hurt by the no to PSG, who would have guaranteed €13m a year according to the agent, wants to be partly compensated with a figure closer to €10m and away from €6m.
“I think a renewal is sought for a farewell next year with a clause. The agent prefers it at €80m, while Napoli would like it close to €120m.
“Kvara has been proposed to Barça, Manchester United, Real Madrid, PSG again. But there are no negotiations in progress.
“There is disappointment on the part of De Laurentiis, this very cold ‘no’ he did not digest. So much so that since then there has been no raise either on the salary or the clause.”
Manchester United are currently not negotiating for Kvaratskhelia. The Red Devils, who are said to be willing to offer him a €9m per year deal, could take advantage of his situation at Napoli to secure his services.
