Joao Cancelo is ready to ‘exert force’ on Manchester City to push through a return to Barcelona, the move that he wants this summer.
That’s according to Sport, who say while the full-back has been forced to join Manchester City’s pre-season training squad, he is pushing to get out of the Etihad as soon as possible.
Cancelo has asked Barcelona for a last effort to unblock the situation with Manchester City and will ‘exert force’ on the matter to get him loaned out for another season.
Barcelona are clear that they will only make another move for Cancelo, who spent last season on loan at the Camp Nou, if the economic conditions are considered viable for them.
They accept that they need an addition at right back and manager Hansi Flick would be happy to have him in his squad, but Manchester City are currently demanding a transfer or a paid loan with a mandatory purchase option. Neither of those suit their current finances.
What they believe is that time will work in their favour and, alongside Cancelo’s insistence he will only join Barcelona, they can force Manchester City into a deal that suits them.
Cancelo, it seems, is willing to do what it takes and will now ‘exert force’ on the matter to get what he wants.
