Well, Monday may have been a quiet day for Liverpool fans, but it appears it could get very exciting rather soon.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who have an article as an exclusive claiming that Roméo Lavia is now ‘one step away’ from signing for the Reds.
It’s recalled that the Southampton midfielder has already been the subject of an offer from Liverpool, which was turned down by the Saints, but the second one will be the right one.
The Anfield side remain ‘in pole position’ to sign the Belgium international from the south of England, amid competition from elsewhere, and they are close to acquiring him.
In fact, Foot Mercato say that ‘an agreement is being finalised’ between all the parties involved in the transfer, and all that’s left is ‘an agreement between the two clubs’ for the transfer to go through.
The deal, therefore, is entering its ‘final phase’, and the operation should cost Liverpool ‘around €50m’, which will be very welcome money for Southampton.
The 19-year-old, despite his young age, was a regular last season for the now Championship side, making 34 appearances in all competitions, during which he picked up one goal and one assist, as well as 10 yellow cards.
