Borussia Mönchengladbach defender Luca Netz is ‘one step away’ from joining Nottingham Forest, who have overtaken the competition for him.

That’s according to journalist Marco Conterio. The Italian provides an update on the 22-year-old after reports earlier today.

Those reports in Germany stated that an unnamed Premier League side had come calling for Netz on deadline day. They were reportedly ready to pay around €2.5m for him. That’s a deal Mönchengladbach will take as the defender’s contract expires in the summer.

Reports in England then named Nottingham Forest as the club in question. They need a new left-back to replace Oleksandr Zinchenko. He was on loan from Arsenal but that was cancelled so he could leave the Emirates and join Ajax until the end of the season.

Now Conterio reports that Netz is one step away from moving to the City Ground. According to his information, Nottingham Forest have beaten the competition to his signature. AC Milan, Lazio and Torino had ‘tested the waters’ for the defender.

But he now appears destined for the Premier League after Nottingham Forest made their move in the final hours of the window.
