If Deniz Undav’s plan in the summer was to simply find his happiness away from Brighton, then it’s fair to say he’s achieved that target.

But alongside happiness, it seems he’s also managed to secure himself records, with Kicker covering the next big success from his loan spell at VfB Stuttgart today.

They explain that it is no longer a secret that Undav, alongside fellow striker Serhou Guirassy, ‘make a perfect storm couple’.

They continued their fine goalscoring seasons in the 3-3 draw with Heidenheim over the weekend, taking them to 38 goals together, 23 for Guirassy and 15 for the Brighton loanee.

That means the pair also set a new record for the German club, with the previous tally of 37 goals shared between Jurgen Klinsmann and Karl Allgöwer falling by the wayside.

That duo is still well loved in Stuttgart but now Undav and Guirassy are the leading pair and likely to add to their respective tallies before the end of the season too.

It’s the latest positive moment in what’s been a superb year for Undav, who arrived on loan from Brighton in the summer and hasn’t looked back since.

He’s now firmly among the goals, proving his doubters wrong and likely to be part of Germany’s squad at Euro 2024 as well.

Whether that leads to a permanent move in the summer remains to be seen. The German side have an option to get him, believed to be around €20m, and his tally, plus this new record, surely mean they’ll be tempted to activate that at some point.
