Completely revamping their team last season ahead of a tough season in the Premier League, Watford have been a bit quieter on the transfer market this summer.
The arrival of Isaac Success for a club record fee certainly caught the eye of many, but hanging onto Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney seemed to be the southern club’s biggest priority; a feat they appear to have achieved.
Spending just over £20m instead of the £71m splashed last summer, Watford could recoup an extra £10.3m if the latest news in L’Equipe on Friday is correct.
According to the French newspaper, last season’s £9m arrival Abdoulaye Doucouré, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Granada after signing in February, is of interest to Monaco, who have allegedly made a £10.3m bid for the central midfielder.
Already well versed in Ligue 1 football, the 23-year-old would allegedly prefer a stay in the Premier League than a return to France, as breaking through at the English club remains a goal of his, which was the reason he went on loan to Spain to keep getting game time.
Doucouré made 15 appearances for Granada last season, picking up two assists and five yellow cards in the process.
