Chelsea are one of the clubs to have shown interest in Napoli star Victor Osimhen.
Earlier this week, he scored in Napoli’s Champions League draw against Barcelona. Claims in the UK have claimed Chelsea watched the striker and Jules Koundé live in action.
Friday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo relays this claim and gives their own take on the 25-year-old defender.
Chelsea wanted to sign the centre-back but he snubbed them to join the La Liga side in 2022, ‘frustrating all attempts’ made by the Blues to secure his services.
Mundo explain that he had ‘reached a pre-agreement’ with the west London club, who had offered more money that the one proposed by the Blaugrana. Despite this, he rejected the Premier League side for Barca two years ago.
Thiago Silva is expected to leave Stamford Bridge when his current deal expires at the end this season and the west London club will have to bring in a replacement for the Brazilian.
It’s claimed Chelsea want Koundé, who is also on the agenda of Arsenal and Newcastle. However, the Catalan newspaper states he’s ‘not contemplating leaving’ Barcelona.
Koundé has made 32 appearances this season, scoring two goals and registering three assists in the process.
