Celtic were able to sign 37-year-old Kasper Schmeichel last week, with Brendan Rodgers bringing the goalkeeper in as a free agent. It’s an impressive deal for the Scottish Premiership club, who needed to find a new goalkeeper following Joe Hart calling it a day.
French newspaper L’Equipe reports they’ve also moved for Yvon Mvogo, who has been told he can leave Lorient this summer for the right price. He has just a year remaining on his contract, and with Lorient relegated to Ligue 2 he’s available.
However, it’s stated the player ‘has not agreed to join Celtic’, making it sound like he’s snubbed the club. Instead he could be set for a move to Bournemouth and the Premier League.
Bournemouth and Lorient share a major shareholder, and that would help the move go through.
L’Equipe may well be overstating Celtic’s interest. Kasper Schmeichel arriving wasn’t an overnight thing and it’s not hard to argue that he’d be preferable as a free agent.
Mvogo would likely arrive as a squad player at Bournemouth, with a chance to prove himself.
