Red Star Belgrade youngster Jovan Mijatović has attracted interest from Manchester City, Bayer Leverkusen and others.

According to Kicker, the 18-year-old is set to join Pep Guardiola’s side in January.

The striker’s name was on the Bundesliga side’s target list for the winter market but he’s now ‘about to move’ to Manchester City.

It’s said the negotiations between the two clubs are not yet finalised but the 18-year-old has made a final decision to join the treble winners. The report adds his move to Manchester City is likely to go through in the next few days.

Kicker claim Xabi Alonso’s side didn’t miss out on the Serbia U19 international, but they backed out of the deal. That’s because he didn’t fill the requirement of the profile they were looking for this month.

Claims from Serbia stated Bayer Leverkusen have made an offer and this has now been dismissed by Kicker.

Manchester City view Mijatović as an investment for the future, which is why he’ll be sent out on loan to another club in January. There’s been reports the Citizens will send him to New York City FC, or that he could even sign directly for them, but Kicker wasn’t able to verify this and suggest it may be too far from home for the youngster.

Red Star Belgrade promoted Mijatović to their first team in 2022, before sending him out on loan to Grafičar last season.

He’s been a regular for Red Star Belgrade since last October and has starred this season, managing nine goals and two assists from 19 games so far.
