As Brighton & Hove Albion remain one step from signing Valentin Barco from Boca Juniors, Argentine outlet TyC Sports now shares the latest details of this transfer.
It’s said that after the player triggered his US$10m release clause on Monday, he’s now ready to undergo a medical examination today, meaning Wednesday.
Brighton’s representatives will be in Argentina for that and to hand him the six-year contract he’s about to sign.
Boca Juniors won’t be involved in that, not only because the release clause is getting triggered, but also because Barco is currently out with the U-23 national team.
TyC Sports recalls that Brighton’s interest is actually old, as they tried to sign him last summer, when the player decided to continue with the Copa Libertadores campaign at his club.
With the South American season now gone, the Seagulls found a better scenario to get him signed, even though they couldn’t find a deal with Boca Juniors and had to use the release clause.
In case the report is right, it seems like a matter of time until Brighton announce their newest signing.
