Porto winger Pepê is likely to turn down interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers should they ever come calling for him again.

That’s according to Correio da Manhã, who say the winger is courting interest from England amid his performances for the Portuguese side this season.

The 25-year-old has been starring in Portugal over the last year or so after a move from Gremio in July 2021.

Since then, he’s scored eight goals and registered nine assists in 55 games for the club, with this season seeing him bag two goals and three assists in 13 games in all competitions so far.

Correio da Manhã say that his ‘constant evolution’ has not gone unnoticed, with some even going as far as to compare his upward path to that of Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.

His performances have ‘grown the interest’ of several European teams and Wolves are likely to be one of them, having tried to sign him from Gremio before his move to Porto.

The Portuguese side are aware of this interest and have even received enquiries, so much so that Pinto da Costa pushed a contract renewal to further protect the player with a €70m release clause and deal until 2027.

Unfortunately for Wolves, though, Pepê has loftier ambitions than a move to Molineux and wants a team from the top of the Premier League table.

Whether he can get it remains to be seen but that’s his plan and seems likely to put Wolves out of the picture for his signature should they try to secure it for a second time.
