Manchester United defender Victor Lindelöf has been ‘offered’ to Inter Milan ahead of the summer, with a growing belief he will be leaving Old Trafford.
That’s according to Tuttosport, who say the Swedish defender is on the Serie A side’s list of possible options ahead of a reshaping of their defence this summer.
The newspaper states, confidently, that Lindelöf ‘is leaving Manchester United’ at the end of the season after a frustrating campaign in which he has managed just nine appearances in the Premier League and featured largely in the cup competitions instead.
His current deal is set to expire in 2024, with Manchester United holding an option to extend that by a further year, but it seems he plans to move on once the season ends.
The newspaper quotes him as saying that ‘I want to play, this summer we will analyse the situation and see what is best’ and in that light he has been ‘offered’ to Inter.
That would leave them with holes to fill and Lindelöf could be an option as he is ‘leaving’ Old Trafford at the end of the season.
One hiccup on that front, though, could be the broken toe he’s been playing with for much of this campaign.
The defender revealed to journalists after Sweden’s win over Azerbaijan that he’d been dealing with the issue since last year but felt something in the game, leading to concerns it could be an issue for the remainder of this season.
That remains to be seen but it is certainly something Inter would want to be clued up on before making a move to bring him to Italy in the coming months.
