Nottingham Forest will complete the signing of Racing Santander’s Gustavo Puerta on deadline day.
At the start of last month, the Premier League side made an approach before Olympiacos joined the battle. Evangelos Marinakis owns both clubs, and the expectation was for the Greek club to wrap up this operation.
Last week, the Nottingham Forest owner said he was willing to pay his €16m clause but 23-year-old is on his way to Benfica. Then came the surprising development.
On Monday, Sport Witness covered a report from Colombia explaining the Reds made an offer. Their plan is to sign and let him spend this season on loan at the Greek club.

Colombian journalist Julián Capera took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report that the English club have an agreement in principle, likely with the La Liga side.
The midfielder will sign a contract until 2030 at the City Ground and then go out on loan to Greece. He can play in the Europa League this season with Olympiacos.
It’s likely Nottingham Forest will pay Gustavo Puerta’s €16m release clause.
He has to carry out medical tests to first complete a permanent move to England. This will take place soon.

Journalist Óscar García Mayo, who covers this report, states the Colombia international is no longer training with Racing Santander.
Gustavo Puerta has left training because he will first complete a permanent move to Nottingham Forest, who will then loan him out to Olympiacos.
The midfielder will soon travel to the UK to carry out medical and other formalities with the Reds. They should make his signing official before the window closes later today.
Puerta, who joined the Spanish club last summer, has played 33 matches last season and made three appearances this season.
