As January transfers go, Southampton’s decision to spend €18m on Paul Onuachu is one likely filled with regret.
That applies to both the Saints and the player himself, who failed to score in 11 Premier League appearances after failing to convince Ruben Selles.
The Nigeria international was always unlikely to want to stay at Southampton following the relegation to the Championship, and journalist Sacha Tavolieri brings the latest.
He states that Onuachu ‘should leave’ the St Mary’s residents this summer, and already has some interest in his services from various clubs.
Those named are 1.FC Union Berlin in Germany and Galatasaray, while Al Taawon FC in Saudi Arabia have also put the striker ‘on their list’.
As for a potential return to KRC Genk, where he made a big name for himself prior to his move to Southampton, that is ‘considered unlikely’.
During his time with the Belgian side, the now 29-year-old had found the back of the net 85 times in 134 appearances in all competitions, as well as assisted his teammates 10 times.
