Newcastle United have come forward as a late contender to sign Napoli’s Hirving Lozano, according to Spazio Napoli.
The winger’s contract expires in 2024 and he’s refused to lower his salary to sign an extension. The Serie A winners could get rid of him instead of losing the player as a free agent next summer.
It’s claimed Newcastle could be a solution for the 28-year-old as they are trying to secure his services.
The Mexico international was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia but this track has cooled down. Lozano has a chance to continue in Europe as the report states the Magpies could take him as a ‘last minute reinforcement’.
Spazio Napoli’s title states the former PSV Eindhoven player’s farewell is ‘approaching’ and can move to St James’ Park.
Eddie Howe’s side have qualified for the Champions League. Lozano has the experience of playing at the highest level with both PSV and Napoli. This could be useful, if he ends up at Newcastle.
