If you’ve ever thought of packing it all in, setting up an Only Fans and living the sweet life then it seems you may be former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.
Yes, you read that right, David De Gea’s failure to find a new club since leaving Manchester United last summer may have got him thinking about a change in career.
Marca cover the player today and his recent admittance that he may be wasting his time continuing with football, after learning how much he could be making online as a ‘content creator’.
The newspaper explains that a recent report from a company in association with a modelling agency revealed that the goalkeeper has the potential to be earning more than €2.5m a month from the subscription service.
That caught the attention of the former Manchester United star, who Marca say earned €1.3m a month at Old Trafford before his departure in the summer, and he joked on Instagram that “I’m wasting my time” alongside some laughing emojis.
Now whether he’s seriously considering the move into online content creation is up for debate, but given those numbers, perhaps he should think about it.
Finding a new club hasn’t been as easy as we’re assuming he thought it would be and spending a year out of the game at his age, he’s now 33-years-old, is never a good sign.
The Manchester United kudus is starting to slip away, and De Gea is largely covered in Spain now as a secondary aspect of his musician wife.
Perhaps if this year proves as fruitless as last year has been, he’ll have a serious look at his option and give fans the chance to take a closer look at him too.
