There’s a very interesting story developing at the moment, and that’s Manchester City’s alleged interest in Ismaël Bennacer.

The former Arsenal youngster is currently at Milan in Serie A, where a season at Empoli and his subsequent move to San Siro have turned him into one of the more exciting prospects around.

About a week ago, Foot Mercato in France claimed the Premier League side, via Pep Guardiola, were very interested, as the Spaniard had been ‘following him for a long time’ and already ‘started talks with his entourage’.

That was all very promising, but if you got all excited at the idea of Bennacer returning to England, maybe reel it back a little, because Le Buteur try to calm things down this week.

In a short and sweet article on Monday, the Algerian website make one thing very clear, and that’s the fact the midfielder knows nothing about this.

It’s explained that ‘official sources’ have told them Bennacer ‘isn’t aware’ of interest from Real Madrid and Manchester City for his services, and add the 22-year-old ‘will not move this summer’.

You can choose who to believe at this point (since we’re nowhere near money being spent on the transfer market just yet), but we’ll keep an eye out for anything new on the matter going forward, because it’s quite rare to have two such conflicting stories in the space of a week.
