Aston Villa are continuing negotiations with Paris Saint Germain for Marco Asensio and hope to secure him on loan.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report that the 29-year-old Spaniard is ‘getting closer’ to joining Aston Villa.

They report that PSG are currently locked in negotiations over two exits, Cher Ndour and Asensio. Ndour is currently close to leaving for Fiorentina and if that goes through, it would ‘then facilitate’ Asensio’s move to Aston Villa.

He’s been tracked by many teams in recent months, with Real Sociedad and Galatasaray also in the mix for him. He is, though, getting closer to Aston Villa.

The Villans are continuing to push for the former Real Madrid man and the various parties have now found ‘common ground’ from which to work on.

FM say Asensio would be loaned to Villa but provide no more details than that. The talks between the two sides are presumably focused on that and how the loan will be formulated. PSG will likely want a permanent clause to be included so they can move Asensio on permanently at some point.

That’s to be worked out but talks are continuing, and it seems there is growing confidence Asensio could end up at Villa Park.
