It appears that Liverpool are starting to take the lead in the race to sign Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich.
The midfielder has been linked with a move away from Bavaria over the past few weeks, and a number of Premier League clubs, including the Reds, have been mentioned as a potential landing spot for the Dutchman.
This came after a delegation from Liverpool travelled to hold talks about a potential transfer, which De Telegraaf comment on on Monday, relayed by Voetbal Primeur.
They recall that the player’s entourage, which included his father, ‘sat down’ with the Anfield club to discuss a potential move.
The hope from Liverpool’s end would be that they wouldn’t have to pay ‘more’ for Gravenberch than what Bayern did a year ago, which was a fee of €18.5m.
The 20-year-old is reportedly ‘interested’ in a transfer to Merseyside, but he’s also in a bit of a split, because those at the top of the Bundesliga side still believe in him, but he isn’t getting a lot of time under Thomas Tuchel.
Gravenberch reportedly blames himself for that, but it also became clear in the talks with Liverpool that he is ‘becoming dejected’ about his situation.
After all, what more can he do than train well, which Tuchel has acknowledged, to get a space in the team?
That’s why the idea of a move to Liverpool appeals to him, as we all know Jürgen Klopp would use him far more, especially now that the idea of signing Jude Bellingham has evaporated.
