Kendry Páez intends to stay at Chelsea permanently from now on, despite the Blues only wanting him to stay for a month.

That’s according to El Comercio, who cover the player today after a report yesterday stated the youngster was back in London for another adaptation period with the Blues.

That report, which has since been confirmed after Páez posted on social media, explained that Páez would be spending a month with Chelsea as part of his adaptation to the club ahead of joining permanently in the summer.

He’s already done this on several occasions after being signed in 2023 and this will be the latest for the 17-year-old before his move to Stamford Bridge becomes official in the summer.

The trip “is for Kendry to understand the way of working in Europe, the key adaptation parameters and, the longer the process, the better for him,” Luis Fernando Saritama, sporting director at Independiente del Valle, told El Comercio about the trip.

The newspaper questions where Páez will fit under Enzo Maresca, envisioning that he and Cole Palmer could fit together if that’s what the Italian boss wants.

That’s for the future and at the minute the focus is on how long he’ll remain in England in this current adaptation period.

They say Chelsea are yet to officially comment on that front, but journalist Joaquín Saavedra has insisted it would be for a month. However, Páez has different plans and ‘intends to remain’ in Europe.

That’s something he actually can’t do until he turns 18 in May, at which point he’ll officially leave Independiente del Valle.

An agreement may need to be struck in the coming weeks then, with Páez clearly of a different mindset to Chelsea and Independiente at this point.
