Earlier this week, Fenerbahçe’s İsmail Yüksek revealed that Manchester United are his dream club and he’d love to join them in the future.

The midfielder made this claim during a local event and that seems to have disappointed a section of the Turkish club’s supporters.

After his side’s defeat to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday, the 25-year-old spoke to the media and provided further clarification on his Manchester United ‘dream’.

His quotes are relayed by Fotomaç, and the Turkey international has explained why he feels his recent admission about Manchester United was misinterpreted.

“They invited me to speak in the area where I live, where I was born. They asked about my dream team. I said, ‘I am already playing for my dream team.’ Then I was asked, ‘If you had the chance to play in the Premier League in the future, which team would you choose? I said that I used to watch Manchester United when I was a kid, when they were dominating in the league. This was misrepresented. I would also like to explain this,” he said.

The player is of the belief his earlier comment about the Red Devils was seen as a desire to leave the Yellow Canaries, and he’s now insisted that is not the case.

“There has been an upsetting incident since the beginning of the week. It was reflected as if my mind was on a transfer. I don’t have such a thought right now,” Yüksek explained, as relayed by Cumhuriyet.

“We continue in two competitions, we have important matches. I want to look ahead, my only dream is to win the championship at Fenerbahçe.”

The Turkish press have stated that Tottenham Hotspur’s scouts had watched Yüksek live last week and will continue to keep an eye on him in the coming weeks.

The midfielder has managed a goal and five assists from 41 games for Fenerbahçe this season, and will likely keep his Manchester United thoughts to himself for now… to avoid upsetting Fener fans.
