Dreaming of playing in the Premier League is nothing new for footballers, with most in the world desperate of their shot in the so-called best league on offer.
England’s top-flight is seen as the pinnacle for many players, not only because of the standard of football but also because of the money on offer.
Zinho Vanheusden is the latest to add his name to the long list of players waiting for their move to England to come about, something that won’t have gone unnoticed by Arsenal.
The Belgian returned to his home country this year after four years at Inter Milan, during which he never made a first-team appearance for the Serie A side.
It seems he has no intention of staying in his homeland, though, with him revealing in a recent interview with Het Laatste Nieuws that he dreams ‘of playing in a top competition like Spain, Italy, Germany or England’, adding that his ‘ambitions are sky high’.
Why is that of interest to Arsenal? Because the Gunners are known admirers of the Belgian defender, having pursued him during the summer.
Back in June, there were reports that the Gunners were ‘interested’ in the defender, and this was later confirmed by Standard Liège manager Michel Preud’homme, who claimed Arsenal ‘seriously knocked at the door’ for the defender.
The Gunners have since signed David Luiz and William Saliba but, should Vanheusden rediscover himself in Belgium, these quotes will give them hope should they look to make a move in future.
