Gustav Isaksen scored Lazio’s solitary goal of the match as they lost 2-1 to Udinese at the weekend, but his future in Rome has been under some doubt recently.
Celtic have been mentioned as an interested party but it seems as though the player will not join Brendan Rodgers’ side, and his adventure at Lazio may continue.
This comes from Roman outlet Il Messaggero, as relayed by La Lazio Siamo Noi, who state that the Serie A side are considering the future of the winger but there is a contradiction in positions.
Celtic are said to have made an offer of an initial loan deal worth €2m with the option to buy at €14m. Lazio negotiated for another type of offer and they wanted an obligation to buy instead of an option.
Amidst all of this, Isaksen made a decision and he ‘himself has refused’ Celtic as a potential destination. The feeling is that, for now, the Danish player will stay at Lazio.
The Bhoys could have found an opening if the 23-year-old had accepted the move as talks with Lazio were ongoing, but the situation is now truly at a standstill.
