As you will have undoubtedly seen by now, Everton have signed Amadou Onana from Lille.

The defensive midfielder will add much needed energy in Frank Lampard’s midfield, but that isn’t the only signing the club are trying to make.

There had been a lot of talk that Idrissa Gueye could be heading back to Goodison Park after falling out of favour at Paris Saint-Germain, and Foot Mercato bring the latest on the situation.

The website claim that while Everton ‘are putting pressure to complete the transfer and seem ready to pay what is needed’ to do so, ‘nothing is moving for now’.

The reason for that is that Gueye is ‘hesitating’, perhaps knowing that he could get other offers between now and the end of the transfer window.

After all, with Everton spending so much on Onana, he is almost guaranteed a starting spot in Frank Lampard’s line up going forward.

Could the same be said about Gueye were he to return to the Toffees?
