Philippe Coutinho picked up an injury in Aston Villa’s 4-0 victory over Everton on August 20th and is expected to be on the sidelines for the next few weeks.
The attacking midfielder’s latest setback hasn’t put off Real Betis as they are considering signing him.
That’s according to El Partidazo de COPE, who state the La Liga side have approached Aston Villa for the 31-year-old.
It’s claimed Al-Duhail SC are also showing interest in Coutinho and there is a possibility for the Villans to sell him to the Qatari club for around €20m.
This information was provided by journalist Pedro Morata, who took to Twitter to provide more updates on this case.
With regards to the Brazil international’s injury, Morata claims he will be out of action for three weeks.
The journalist adds Manuel Pellegrini’s side have ‘requested’ the former Barcelona man on a loan deal without a mandatory purchase option.
Coutinho, for his part, prioritises a sporting project over Qatari money, and this could please Real Betis. The Seville club have been having financial issues in recent years and it’s unclear what they’d be able to offer in terms of fee and salary.
The South American has last prominence since Unai Emery took charge at Aston Villa last year and now has two options to leave Villa Park. Coutinho and the Premier League side have a decision to make.
