Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has emerged as the ‘favourite’ target for Real Madrid, according to AS.
Los Blancos are assessing their options to sign a new striker and have two possibilities ahead of them.
They could either invest big or buy a cheap striker in the summer, so that they can focus on signing Manchester City’s Erling Haaland or Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé in 2024.
For the first option, Real Madrid are handling three options, including the Tottenham frontman, Benfica’s Gonçalo Ramos and Juventus’ Dušan Vlahović. Among these, Kane is the ‘favourite’ target for the Spanish giants’ coaching staff.
Real Madrid are aware of what it’s going to cost them to sign the 29-year-old. Spurs value him at €115m and would ‘prefer to sell’ him to a foreign club over a Premier League side. This is where Bayern Munich emerge as a ‘great rival’ of the La Liga side.
The England international has a deal until 2024 and sources from his ‘entourage’ have told AS that Kane has ‘already decided to leave’ the north London club.
Kane was keen to leave in the past but wasn’t successful. The situation could be different in the next window because of his contract situation, lack of European football and the institutional crisis at Spurs [without a manager and sporting director].
It isn’t clear whether the 29-year-old is open to leaving England, partly because he’s keen to surpass Alan Shearer [260 goals] as the all-time Premier League goal scorer. Kane currently has 211 goals.
Over at Real Madrid, they don’t see the move with ‘bad eyes’ view Kane as a ‘safe bet’. They believe the player will be able to extend his career well into his 30s, which is why the Spurs star has ‘received the endorsement’ of Los Blancos’ coaching staff.
