On Monday, Portuguese outlet A Bola published a report which sounded confident about a deal between Benfica and Celtic for the permanent transfer of Jota.

It was claimed that the clubs are currently advancing in talks for the winger, who’s loaned until the end of the season, and are now negotiating the fee for the purchase.

Today we get to see is a piece from newspaper Record, evaluating the 14 players who Benfica have loaned out this year, and Jota is the one who’s been most successful so far.

The winger has a record of eight goals and six assists for Celtic so far, despite being injured since the start of December, and that’s why the permanent move is mentioned once again.

Record writes that Celtic currently ‘think’ of triggering the €7.5m buying option. It’s said the club still believe in the Premiership title and manager Ange Postecoglou ‘counts on staying with the Portuguese ace’.

Regarding Jota’s personal wish, the newspaper writes ‘the player is enthusiastic about the environment provided by the fans’, who are convinced by his performances.

So with the 22-year-old being happy to stay, the transfer seems to only depend on Celtic triggering the buying option, unless they indeed want a discount and negotiate with Benfica for a better fee.
