The Brazilian media today shares some more details on the reasons behind Fabricio Bruno’s rejection of a West Ham United move.
A story from UOL makes it clear that the player’s staff had been confident that he’d accept the Hammers’ offer.
Proof of that is it was the agents who presented West Ham’s bid to Flamengo, and even advised the player to accept the move.
Fabricio Bruno, however, had two big reasons to turn down the Hammers. One of them was the salary, as he wouldn’t make much more than at the Brazilian club. Then there’s also the fact that his wife is pregnant, and together they decided it’d be better for him to stay.
UOL writes that Flamengo hadn’t only accepted West Ham’s offer, but also agreed to payment dates and bonuses. They didn’t put any pressure on the player to make the move, but still ended up ‘surprised’ to see him rejecting it.
It’s once again said that the Hammers were at their limit about the personal terms, and couldn’t make a manoeuvre to overturn the situation. What the split was between player and agent isn’t clear, although it wouldn’t be a surprise if West Ham’s offer was lucrative for the representatives.
