Fenerbahce’s new signing Islam Slimani has spoken to the Turkish press in a press conference following his move from Leicester City.

Slimani said he’s very happy to join Fenerbahce and he thanked Damien Comolli for making this transfer possible.

Fenerbahce sporting director Comolli also said Slimani worked very hard to convince Leicester City over a move to Fenerbahce, despite claims he only wanted to join former club Sporting.

Slimani also spoke about why he failed in England, as covered by Sporx: “In England, I had fewer chances to impress compared to Portugal. England is a very different country, I struggled to adapt. Last year, I also had some injuries which were unfortunate. But when I played, I did my best and you can see it from the stats.”

It’s reported that the deal does not include a redemption clause so Slimani will be a Fenerbahce player until 31st of May.

The player signed for Leicester City from Sporting, but failed to hold a regular place in the starting eleven. Last season he was loaned out to Newcastle United for the second half of the season, but injuries limited his appearances.
