Saïd Benrahma had a bit of a UEFA Europa League nightmare on Thursday evening.
The 29-year-old left West Ham United for Lyon on a permanent basis in the summer window, having gone to the Ligue 1 club on loan in the previous January market.
Lyon secured themselves a purchase option and that enabled them to buy Benrahma for around €20m when the initial loan fee sent to West Ham is also taken into account.
He’s found the back of the net twice in eight matches since the transfer was made permanent, but it’s fair to say that Thursday’s game against Besiktas was not one of his best outings.
Lyon lost 1-0 at home and Le Figaro report Benrahma ‘never made the right decisions in his shots’. He shot eight times, the most of any player on the pitch, but failed to find the target once.
In typically harsh, style, another French newspaper, L’Equipe, gave him a rating of just 3/10 for his efforts.
Former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette also had a poor match, L’Equipe giving him the 3/10 treatment too.
