Manchester United appointed Ralf Rangnick as their interim manager until the end of the season after parting ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last November.

Rangnick will start a new role as a consultant after this campaign and the Red Devils will have to appoint a permanent manager in the summer.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauricio Pochettino is one of the candidates for the Premier League side.

A ‘confidential’ report from today’s edition of Sport states that ‘presumably, United will be coached’ by the former Tottenham Hotspur manager next season. It’s also stated that PSG ‘will not do much’ to retain Pochettino.

As a part of planning for the next season, the newspaper states the Manchester club must bring in a new striker since Edinson Cavani, 35, has a contract expiring in June and will be allowed to leave the club as a free agent.

Manchester United are in the market looking for a young centre-forward and Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland is among the transfer targets. Regarding the 21-year-old, the report says he ‘fits them [United] like a glove’, and is therefore a serious target.

The English club ‘already have the experience’ of negotiating with BVB as they signed Jadon Sancho from the Bundesliga side last summer. The report explains the ‘operation could be repeated’ between the two sides, this time for the Norway international.

Sport suggest United are a serious candidate for Haaland, but they don’t mention anything about the competition they will face from other top clubs to sign the striker.
