It’s been a long time coming but Yerry Mina has finally made his debut for Fiorentina after leaving Everton in the summer transfer window.
Firenze Viola and Tutto Juve cover the player today after he was seen in purple for the first time over the weekend.
Mina left Everton in the summer when his contract came to an end, bringing an end to a five-year spell at Goodison Park that had been beset by injuries.
The Colombian was a big fan favourite for the Toffees when he was fit but the problem for a series of managers was getting him fully firing, with Mina suffering 11 separate injuries and often spending months on the sidelines.
That’s continued with new club Fiorentina, where he’s already missed ten games and 51 days out injured with a lack of fitness and then a muscle injury.
He finally made his first appearance over the weekend in the clash with Juventus, with Firenze Viola, relaying La Nazione, explaining that he actually appeared in the centre of attack.
That move was one ‘of desperation’ according to the newspaper and didn’t work out as Fabio Miretti’s goal proved to be the difference.
The good news, though, is that the former Everton man is back and available and his debut, the real one in his natural defensive role, will not be long in arriving.
Indeed, he could even have a chance to play in Serbia against Cukaricki, although given his injury history it may be ill-advised for the Italian side to do that.
Tutto Juve say similar to La Nazione, explaining how Mina ‘celebrated his debut’ with Fiorentina and featured as a striker in a ‘desperate attempt’ to catch Juventus out, which did not work.
Either way, Mina has returned and finally made his debut months after arriving from Everton, which everyone seems to consider a positive.
