If you’re a West Ham United fan, you might recall a player called Mesaque Djú signing in 2019 from Benfica on a free transfer.
The young winger arrived with a bit of excitement, as most youngsters originating from such clubs tend to, but the move never amounted to anything.
Injuries didn’t help, and he left West Ham on a free this summer when his contract ran out, having failed to make a single appearance for the first-team over the years.
He did feature a number of times with the U21s, but that isn’t what the player will have wanted from the transfer in the first place, and he has been looking for the right opportunity to bounce back.
He’s finally found it, with Record in Portugal explaining he has signed with OFI Crete FC in Greece, which has also been confirmed by the club itself.
Djú has signed a two-year contract with them, and will be hoping to use that to get his career back on track, as he still has time on his side, only being 23.
Back when he first signed for West Ham, it was said Benfica would keep 50% of a future sale, but since he left on a free, well, they won’t be seeing any money.
